Two Years ago started PM Internship Scheme is now ready with major updates by the government of India, as according to the reports, the gross stipend of Rs 5000 is now going to increase by Rs 6,800. The Reason for such a change is because of the students, as the Dropout percentage during the two pilot phases was around 20%, and mainly it was because of the stipend.

PM Internship scheme was started by our honourable prime minister shri. Narendra Modi, as it was a great initiative of allowing students a fair chance of getting quality internship, as the scheme also consists of different sectors ranging from Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Banking, Aviation, Artificial Intelligence, and many more.

Now, as per the update Government is going to increase the number of companies in the overall portfolio to 6,000 as it has become a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Companies such as those listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange are going to become a part of the same.

PM Internship Scheme 2026: More Than 4000 Students Droupout From Internships

During the Pilot Project Phase comapnies had posted more than 2.45 Lakh Internships offer, whereas 1.65 Lakh students had received the offer letter for the Internship during that time, but just 16,000 students have joined the internship, and the rest of the students dropped out of these internships due to the major issue of location and the stipend being offered.

It was a major reason the government of India has revised the stipend structure by increasing it to Rs 11,800, and now more than 6,000 companies are going to be a part of this CSR Activity, whereas the developing sectors, such as high-growth companies listed on the major stock exchanges, would now also be a part of the same.

What is the latest update on the PM Internship Scheme

Currently, The Applications are under screening round as checked by our media team, and soon there could be an update on the revised stipend structure by the government, which would be followed by March 2026.
